We helped Gungun and her family take the first step towards empowerment and meet her developmental milestones like sitting up, walking, learning to touch, exploring the environment, recognizing and socializing with people, etc.
Today Gungun (age 3) successfully goes to a regular play school!
Most children with disabilities never get the chance to attend regular schools and become a part of the community. In spite of all odds Gungun goes to a regular play school. All this was possible because Gungun's parents brought her to us as soon as they got to know about her disability. Their pro-activeness and righteous thinking gave us the opportunity to sensitize them, make them the strong advocates of their daughter, help their daughter achieve developmental milestones, make her independent and prepare her for her future. Gungun's parents (Mohita and Nitin) are among those parents who focus on the abilities of their child rather than the disabilities. This is very crucial because children will have self confidence only if their parents have the confidence in them.
If intervened early and provided timely support, any child with visual impairment or blindness can become independent and be a part of an inclusive school from such an early age.
